More Homemade Baby Food. Recipe Included!
I am a baby food-making demon! This time it was a recipe from a friend of mine who is really into the body ecology diet. From what I can gather, this is a diet that enhances your immune system by balancing pH and good bacteria in your gut. People on this diet drink a lot of coconut kefir.
While I’m intrigued, I’m not ready to eat like this full time. However, I have to say, every time she’s cooked something for me from this lifestyle, I have loved it, plus I magically felt healthier just because I knew it was ‘good for me’ food.
This recipe has whole millet and cauliflower. I chose this beautiful orange one, but when it was all done, I don’t think it mattered since the millet is yellow. Anyway, Fuzz has been eating it every day for almost a week. It can be served warm or cold.
We made it with broccoli too. We also added a little bit of butter and sea salt for the non-babies. It makes an excellent side dish, and you can add some spices if it’s too bland for your tastes.
You can find the whole millet in bulk at a health food store or Whole Foods, it comes in a box, too.
The recipe after the jump!Millet and Cauliflower For Babies and Bigger People
2 cups water
1 cup whole millet
1 head cauliflower
pinch sea salt
Bring to boil and simmer until water is gone (about 20-25 minutes). Puree in Cuisinart or blender. Add splashes of water until creamy consistency like mashed potatoes. Will last about a week in the refrigerator, but ours was gone in 4 days!

betsy commented on May 27 11 at 11:28 ami totally want to try this, but every time i try to make something healthy for my little f’ers, they make faces and spit it out. did fuzz go for it on the first try or was there a little resistance?
Naomi commented on May 27 11 at 11:45 am@ bets- i mixed it with some familiar flavors the first time so he was ok with it. Fuzz will eat sweet potatoes with anything.

Naomi commented on Jun 17 11 at 4:05 pm@Jessica- I put it through a sieve and gave it to my 9 month old. It’s still a little grainy texture-wise but he liked it!
