Mother’s Day Gifts She’ll Actually Like
Okay, you’ve got your supplies for french toast in bed, so now what?
Mother’s Day has never been my favorite holiday (Infertile Myrtles, Represent!) but you know, presents are presents, am I right? And furthermore, I would assert unto you that you don’t even need to be a mother to get a Mother’s Day present! You totally deserve a present this Mothers Day, even if your baby is a dang Golden Retriever. All inclusive holiday! Because I say so!
After the jump, I’ve got five of the best gifts I’ve ever received that I know you’ll enjoy, too. (Just forward this link on to your Babydaddy or other concerned individual. You know, I’m lookin’ out for you).
A girlfriend of mine makes the most amazing, most crazy hip moccasins for baby on all of planet Earth. Huck wears his Freshly Picked moccs on the daily. And then you can waltz around in your matching Minnetonka Kiltys and be the cutest dang things ever since Peanut Butter and Jelly.
2. Fresh’s Sugar Delight Gift Set
Kaboodle.com sent a sample of this lotion and perfume duo to try out and I have been mildly obsessed with it since. The fragrance is light and sweet with a hint of citrus, and not overpowering in the slightest. Since Huck was born I’ve avoided wearing my heavier perfumes (maybe it is out of courtesy to my baby, who spends an hour each day clamped to my boob and right in the sensory pathway?) so this has been perfect for me. The lotion is, as you would expect from Fresh, light and airy and the perfect consistency for summer.
Hands down, the best purchase my husband ever made is my iPhone 4. I use it constantly. When I’m up for Huck’s midnight nursing (my pediatrician says I can’t do that any more . . . am I contractually obligated to listen to her? because . . .), when I’m operating with only one hand and need to check my email/make a phone call/tweet a particularly brilliant thought I just had, and let’s not forget the documentation possibilities of the camera apps! I am telling you, the iPhone is like my third kidney. Now that the white one is finally released, I must admit I feel a slight pang of . . . something. I don’t know. White is just daintier. Pay attention, gentlemen. Your Babymama wants an iPhone.
Now that you’re a mama, you deserve a big mama camera. Your baby deserves the best quality photos you can take, and you deserve something fun to play on. How are you going to document your baby’s monthly growth on your favorite Eames Rocker if you don’t have a DSLR?
5. Stamped Initial Charm Necklace
I don’t actually have one of these . . . yet (hint hint, Red!), but this is the kind of gift every mama deserves. I haven’t found my favorite source because I am picky and prefer yellow gold, but one of these days! (Possible variations: baby’s birthstone encased in something pretty.)
What am I missing? Mamas, what would you like for Mother’s Day? Really what I’d like is a solid ten-hour back rub, but, you know.

I second all of these options. I want a white 4G too, my 3G is so out of date comparatively. Except I heard they’re doing the 5G in June so where does that leave us now?
We have Robeez, which are great, not Susan’s moccs, though I want some desperate like. It’s just not in the poorhouse budget these days. *sigh…
Megan commented on Apr 28 11 at 5:53 pmI want an unlimited budget and hours of alone time at the SLC antique store I pass by every time we take the 600 S. exit. That’s all, really. Too much to ask? Methinks not.
Amy commented on Apr 28 11 at 9:24 pmYour pediatrician says you can’t use your iPhone while feeding the baby in the middle of the night?
Michele commented on Apr 28 11 at 11:42 pmSome great gifts on here, but if you still didn’t find “the one” for your mom, you should consider this book my mom and I published. It’s an anthology of stories by, for and about women – out just in time for Mother’s Day! http://bit.ly/hAS0JG
Samantha commented on May 01 11 at 9:10 pmhonestly? I’d like anything :) I doubt my hubs will do anything besides smile and give me a kiss saying happy mothers day. we’re the crazy poor college kids. (it was either be super poor and have a baby, or stay childless and be rich in which case I wouldn’t get anything for mother’s day anywhoo)
chelsea commented on May 02 11 at 12:31 amironic, i know, but a mothers’ day without kids sounds good. i swore a couple mothers’ days ago to go hide on mothers’ day weekend. sundays stink anyway and mothers’ day just never works out to be great. going away hasn’t worked out yet. and this year, my husband can’t figure out why i’m ticked that he’s taking this saturday to go hunting. so why am i ticked? because i work full time, saturdays are my one day off a week, and since this particular saturday falls exactly between my birthday [which i'll be working on] and mothers’ day, that should be MY DAY to go away…so because that won’t happen, i’d settle for a full purchase of what’s on my current wish list…and having the next saturday to myself. :D
Liz Friedman commented on May 03 11 at 12:17 amI gotta tell ya, all the material things in the world are good. But that never works for my mom anyway. What she loves is the sentiment. The love. The heartfelt message. That’s a lot of pressure. Here is how I’m doing it this year: a video entitled Our House is Strong. It’s a love song to moms. We asked moms what gifts they received from their mothers. Their answers make me cry every time. And I couldn’t wait till mother’s day so I already sent it to me mother. We felt even closer.
