Diaper Change Fun Times
Changing Fuzz’s diaper is not the drag many non-parents would assume it to be. Besides the fact that even poopy diapers are not smelly (or at least bad smelly) due to his breast milk diet, diaper change time is also a time when Fuzz and I really connect. When I’m changing his diaper, Fuzz and I share some of the best smiles, coos and giggles of the day. Sometimes we’re having such a good time, I feel like standing there endlessly. I think the reason for this is because we are in such close proximity. He and I make really excellent eye contact and he’s not focusing on eating. I’m giving him my full attention, not distracted by my other child, or by my e-mail. My whole self is all about him.
He obviously takes full advantage of this and gives me the cutest, sweetest moments ever. It’s too bad I can’t pull up a bar stool and just chill right there, the whole day.
I’m sure he’d eventually tire of it. But luckily, in fifteen minutes he’ll likely have another blow-out and we can do it all over again!
I’ve been meaning to write about this for over a month. Of course, every time Fuzz and I are at the changing table, Mommy forgets the camera. Actually, I did bring it once, but he was somewhat disturbed by this new intruder and didn’t give me the kind of smiles that really represent the fun we are having. Today, I managed to get a shot with my phone. Of course, being in the moment with the Fuzz is really what it’s about and the camera alters that reality, so this is the best I could do. But um, I think it’s pretty cute!
Do you enjoy diaper change time with your baby?

Jennifer H. commented on Dec 28 10 at 10:32 pmI love changing table time. Sam laughs and kicks, steals the Desitin box, bats at the cartoons on his wall, and flirts with me. Who’d have thought that such a mundane, required task could be enjoyable in the end.
wire.tightener commented on Jan 10 11 at 9:12 pmI am so glad I just came across this. M is my first baby and he is almost 5 months old. Before I got pregnant I cringed at the thought of diaper changes. The first month I was so nervous about breaking him that those moments were never more than a diaper change. But now these times are some of my favorite. That eye contact is so precious to me. I have gotten peed on before because I just couldn’t tear myself away from that stare. LOL. I had no idea wiping a butt could be so marvelous. :-) thanks for your blog.

Leah commented on Feb 07 11 at 10:44 pmI love it too! I never ask Audrey’s Dad to take a turn. I love to sing or just talk to her while I change her diaper. She loves her change table and is always so happy and giggly during a change.
