When you hear of the Redneck Mommy, you might think deep South. But Tanis Miller is actually from Canada, where she blogs about a life sprinkled with both funny anecdotes and heartbreaking grief. Shortly after the death of one of her children, Miller turned to the internet to let out all of her feelings. And we’re glad she did.

The Redneck Mommy is a blog where anything goes, whether she’s telling us why she hates the grocery store or sharing the details of her family’s decision to adopt a severely disabled little boy after her son’s passing, to rallying for rights and acceptance for children who are “differently-abled,” as she puts it. If you’re in the need for a good laugh, a good cry, or both, Redneck Mommy is where to turn.

Tanis's Quotes on Wisdom from Mom Bloggers

I really enjoy reading Schmutzie.com. Her writing is like a fresh spring breeze after a long cold winter, and she constantly inspires me to try harder, do better, be more. Everyone should have a Schmutzie in their reader.
From: Which blogger is your favorite read and why?
My husband, bless his cotton socks, busts his arse daily to provide for our family and keep me in the lifestyle I've grown accustomed to: a life filled with laughter, high-speed internet and an unlimited supply of boxed macaroni. He is a great father and a fabulous husband, and there isn't a man alive I love more.
From: A shout-out for your other half: Why are you lucky to have him?
My mom makes me appreciate every moment I have with my children, and she inspires me to be a better parent to my children. I love her for that, always.
From:Why do you love your mom?
Wet wipes. I don't care what brand they are, but they have saved my bacon on more than one occasion. From sticky fingers, grimy faces, and explosive diapers, wet wipes are a must-have. That and a washing machine and dryer. Because I'm constantly amazed at the amount of soiled laundry three wee people can produce, and the alternative of washing them on a rock by the river and hang-drying them makes my lazy heart recoil in fear.
From: What is the one parenting product you couldn't live without?
My daughter, Fric, age 14, says she loves me because I have a big heart and I make her feel good about herself. My son, Frac, 13, says he loves me because he can kick my arse on the Wii. I’m pretty sure Jumby, 7, loves me because I let him drool on my boobs. Whatever the reasons are, I’m just glad they love me.
From: Why do you love mom? The bloggers' kids respond!
If your kids are older, respect their boundaries and their stories. The last thing you want is for some random kid to read about how your kid accidentally peed their pants from laughing so hard and then pants them in the school hallway while mocking them and asking if they need a diaper. Not that it's happened to me or anything. *Cough.* Some stories, no matter how funny, are private.
