Have you ever heard someone remark that an activity is about as fun as “watching hair grow?” They’ve obviously never met Eden Marriott Kennedy, mom behind the well-written Fussy. Kennedy once cut off all her hair, then took pictures daily for three months so people could watch it grow. And people actually read/watched — and got excited about it!

Her motto which she sells on t-shirts is “Writing well is the best revenge.” From a poem about a hamster to posts about her son, Jackson, to an entire section of her blog reserved for inspiring fortunes, Kennedy rarely ceases to amaze. She has even been featured in numerous anthologies, including Sleep Is for the Weak.

What if you took your $100 million budget and blew it all on the Oscars clip? Set the tone, established a crisis, and resolved a story logically and emotionally in the time it took to finish a bowl of cereal. And got Taylor Kitsch to star in it.

Eden's Quotes on Wisdom from Mom Bloggers

Be honest. Your experience as a mother may be incredibly similar to other women's, but no one else sees life exactly like you do. Write that.
From What is your best blogging tip for new mom bloggers?
Me: Okay, this is kind of embarrassing, but I have to do this thing for a website and they want me to ask you why you love me.

Jackson, age 9: (silence)

Me: Sooo, I love you because you’re smart and funny and give good hugs and you’re cute and also you’re a smartass.

Jackson: Those are all the reasons I love you, except for being a smartass.

Me: Jerk.

Jackson: Nice try, Mom.
From Why do you love Mom? The bloggers’ kids respond!
I like to think that there's nothing I can't live without or find a way to jury-rig — kids grow up all over the world without diapers and sippy cups, right? However, my son has a special blanket he'd rather die than give up, and it's helped him to sleep many a night. As does our dog. Does that count?
From What is the one parenting product you couldn’t live without?
My husband works really hard for us, and he never complains. We have a good life, and he gave me so much room to write and so much support. I wouldn't be where I am without him. He's a great dad, too; he's not afraid to be the tough guy, but he's a good hugger, too.
From A shout-out for your other half: Why are you lucky to have him?
If I have to narrow it down to just one person, I can say with complete assurance that I adore and have never been disappointed by a post of Angela's at Fluid Pudding. She has a level of candor and heart and kookiness and knitting output that the rest of us can only aspire to.

The first movie Eden's parents ever took her to was Charlie Chaplin's "The Great Dictator," which taught her that kindergarten is a fine time to introduce a child to political satire.
