Making Each Word Count
Posted November 16th, 2011 at 10:00 am
Here, I write for somebody else.
But there are a few other places where I set the rules and guidelines for the writers.
One of those rules is a word count.
Word Count is the maximum number of words used in a published post.
It’s hard for ME to limit people on the number of words they’ll use. I don’t want to be the thing standing between writers and their pieces.
But I am.
For the sake of time and readability and word-y-ness I put those limits on people.
And sit back when the emails and messages comes in.
I get frustrated, then it goes away.
I try to remember the word count that life put on me wasn’t one of choice.
I HAVE TO BE SUPER THRIFTY WHEN I WRITE. MY SENTENCES ARE SHORT. MY DESCRIPTIONS ARE BRIEF. <–when the Caps Lock gets left on I would rather leave it than retype it all. I don’t have those options.
It isn’t a thing that I can expect anyone else to achieve. Because they’re lucky enough to not have to.
I will say, and HAVE SAID, to those that complain,”I can’t write in that many words,”…”REALLY?? Cause I believe you CAN.”
You’d be amazed how often those words are all it takes.
